LEZ Campaign lawyers to look at drivers who were hit by Glasgow council fines.
There has been a dramatic new development as our appeal case looms in March. Our advisers want to talk to drivers who have been fined by City of Glasgow Council. These people are victims of a policy that has been put in place by Glasgow City Council after it was conclusively shown that pollution levels were already below the accepted norms.
Our newly appointed legal team, Levy & McRae, want to examine these cases.
Lawyers for John Paton and Sons Ltd want Scotland’s highest civil court to stop the LEZ from operating in the city. Paton’s is run by the LEZ Campaign’s leader, William Paton.
An appeal has been raised at the Court of Session’s Inner House as Paton’s and many other businesses believe the local authority’s scheme should be stopped. Earlier this year, our advocate Lord Davidson of Glen Clova KC told the judge, Lady Poole, that the local authority had failed to follow established legal tests before making its decision to introduce the LEZ, which covers Glasgow city centre.
